Rye-Harrison Part II

MUCH closer than last time. Rye beat Harrison 34-28 despite holding a 20 point lead earlier in the game. They were up 27-7 at halftime. OL Jack Iuliano simply said, “Harrison played that second half like their lives depended on it… If we play Clarkstown South with that kind of energy, we’ll blow them out.”

Harrison was an onside kick away from having a chance to upset the heavily favored Garnets. Declan Lavelle managed to have just as good as game as he did last week, and he was voted a nominee for Lohud player of the week. Declan threw for 238 yards and a touchdown, but managed to add 125 more yards and 4 (!) touchdowns on the ground. The last one ended up being vital to Rye’s win. Basketball star Matthew Tepedino had 138 yards and a touchdown receiving.

4 seeded Rye will play 5 seed Nyack at home on Friday, October 19.
